How to Propose a New Member

According to the by-laws of Rotary International, a leave of absence can only be granted for extended illness or a stay of more than two weeks in a country in which no Rotary Club exists. Upon approval of the Board of Directors, the member ís absence, under these circumstances shall not be computed in the attendance record of the club. When granted a leave of absence for any reason other than allowed by Rotary International, it significantly affects the overall attendance record of our club at the district level, as the member will be counted as absent.

In the past, many leaves of absence were granted by waiving the Rotary International by-laws, and our attendance record suffered for it.

Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Issaquah requests that any member who can foresee a conflict regarding attendance at club meetings for a prolonged period of time voluntarily submit their resignation from the club.

When the member’s time schedule permits, their membership will be reinstated under the same classification and they will not be required to pay a second admission fee. The club dues will be prorated or refunded on a case by case basis.

It is not the intent of the Rotary Club of Issaquah to lose valuable members, but to create a mutually beneficial arrangement regarding attendance requirements and leaves of absence.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact any member of the Board of Directors.
